So ... you enjoy working with children.... you’d like to stay at home with your own children or grandchildren, work flexible hours, and receive a income.... becoming an Homebased Educator could be just what you want!
We would like to know more about you! So once you have filled out an application we will contact you and work through the rest of the process with you.
Educators are selected on the basis of interviews, reference checks, police checks and an assessment of the home environment. Homes must meet Ministry of Education standards. Within 3 months of contract Educators are required to hold a comprehensive first aid cert.
Educators are valued, supported and provided with ongoing professional development opportunities. We have training workshops for our educators run by our ECE teachers, (Co-ordinators) which parents are welcome to join. The Co-Ordinators offer advice and support to our educators when they visit the home.
Who are the Educators?
Our Educators range from trained Early Childhood Teachers to people willing to have on the job training while working toward their NZ Certificate in Family Day Care. The training is by correspondence courses through The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand. Educators all have a current First Aid Certificate. All Educators have warm caring personalities, experience with children and an awareness of their needs.
Educators are paid per hour per child on a weekly basis. We have two levels of payment based on qualifications.
